This week’s newsletter is all about exploring the great outdoors! Going on walks has always been one of our favorite ways to get inspired and reenergized when we find ourselves in a rut. The same could be true for your child too!
Below you’ll find the Leaf Rubbing Collage activity and the Nature Walk printout. Click here to see the Nature Name activity.
Exploring outside is a great socially distanced activity and is full of teachable moments. For example, you can talk to your child about the different parts of plants and their functions or locate different types of clouds.
Our weekly newsletters will include free guides for awesome activities. You can sign up to get these updates here:

Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt (printable)
Nature walks are also a great opportunity to just simply talk with your child. It’s no surprise that there is a lot happening in the world right now and your child may be looking for an opportunity to speak their mind about it.
Leaf Rubbing Collage
The texture of leaves help you create some magic on paper!
- Various leaves
1) Arrange a leaf on a hard surface.
2) Place the piece of paper on top of your leaf.
3) Pick one color crayon and peel the wrapping off of it. Holding the crayon sideways, rub the color on the paper over the leaf. You will see some really cool details!
4) Repeat steps 1-3 with different leaves and different colors.
5) Enjoy your picture to commemorate your nature walk!
Book of the Week
I am Enough by Grace Byers
Byers wrote this book as if she was writing it to her younger self, reminding her that she is worthy of love, respect, and kindness. This book helps to remind children that no two people are meant to be exactly the same, and that is what makes us enough!
Thank you for making our first month of business so incredible. We cannot wait for you to see what we have created for our future boxes! Be sure to follow along on our journey on Facebook (EngageBox), Instagram (@EngageBoxKids), Twitter (@EngageBoxKids), and our website (engageboxkids.com).
For the love of fun,
Jess & Mal
